Job summary

Texas Dental and Braces is seeking an experienced Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) for a full-time role in San Marcos, TX. You will support dentists and clinical staff, prepare treatment areas, and help ensure a smooth patient experience from arrival to post-treatment instructions.

The position requires a Texas RDA credential, at least one year of experience, and a current BLS certification. Weekend availability is required, and the practice offers benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Texas Registered Dental Assistant credential required.
• At least 1 year of dental assisting experience required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization and clinical procedures.
• Proficient with electronic patient records.
• Willingness to work Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Assist dentists, hygienists and clinical team to make appointments comfortable and efficient.
• Provide chairside assistance during dental procedures.
• Welcome patients, review health histories, and help them feel comfortable before treatment.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, trays and supplies.
• Take clear, accurately labeled dental X-rays.
• Maintain complete, accurate patient records and update treatment plans as directed.
• Reinforce oral hygiene, treatment and post-care instructions.
• Assist with periodontal charting, lab case tracking, and follow-up appointments.
• Follow sterilization, infection-control, privacy and safety procedures.
• Participate in team huddles and keep spaces clean and organized.

• Our schedule runs Monday through Friday. Two Saturdays per month availability is required, with one weekday off.

What You’ll Do

• You’ll work closely with our dentists, hygienists, and clinical team to make appointments comfortable, organized, and efficient.
• Provide chairside assistance during dental procedures.
• Welcome patients, review health histories, and help them feel comfortable before treatment.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, trays, and supplies.
• Take clear, accurately labeled dental X-rays.
• Confirm required consent forms and maintain complete, accurate patient records.
• Document completed procedures and update treatment plans as directed.
• Reinforce oral hygiene, treatment, and post-care instructions.
• Assist with periodontal charting, lab case tracking, and follow-up appointments.
• Perform coronal polishing and fluoride application as directed and permitted by your credentials.
• Follow sterilization, infection-control, privacy, and workplace safety procedures.
• Help keep shared spaces clean and organized and participate in team huddles.

Position Requirements

What You’ll Bring

• A current Texas Registered Dental Assistant credential.
• At least one year of dental assisting experience.
• Current BLS certification.
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization, and clinical procedures.
• Confidence using computers and maintaining electronic patient records.
• Clear communication, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
• Dependability, a willingness to help, and availability to work Saturdays.
