Broward County is seeking an Accounting Manager with significant governmental accounting experience. The selected candidate should demonstrate a strong understanding of financial and managerial accounting concepts and possess strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field.
• Four years in governmental accounting, auditing, or closely related experience; supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, and directs quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Supervises general ledger maintenance, month-end closing, and accruals.
• Manages accounting functions: capital assets, payroll review, grant billings, tax returns.
• Coordinates audits and serves as primary liaison with auditors.
• Develops and implements County accounting policies and procedures, including GASB pronouncements.
• Prepares financial statements and reports for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
• Represents Finance Director in interdepartmental discussions on fiscal issues.
• Ensures accuracy of financial data and assists in budget preparation and presentation.
