Position: Government Affairs Field Representative

Compensation: $72,000 - $75,000, D.O.E.
Reports To: Senior Vice President, Government Affairs & External Relations
Position Status: Exempt
Term: Regular, Full-time. Some evenings are required for meetings and events.
Location: Los Angeles, California. Hybrid schedule: approximately 2 days per week in-office at our headquarters near Downtown Los Angeles, and up to 3 days remote. Travel throughout the Greater Los Angeles Area is required (vehicle and valid driver's license necessary).
Employer contributions for medical and dental insurance, 10 vacation days (accrued), 6 sick days, most major holidays, hybrid work schedule. Paid HMO medical and dental plans available; PPO or alternative HMO plans can be purchased. 401(k) Plan (no current matching).
AAGLA has been Southern California’s advocate for the multifamily housing industry since 1917. We are a membership-based trade association providing advocacy and professional advice for owners, managers, and suppliers in the rental housing sector.
We represent over 10,000 rental housing providers across Los Angeles, Ventura, and San Bernardino counties. The majority are independent, small rental housing providers dedicated to offering affordable neighborhood housing.
The Government Affairs Field Representative reports to the Senior Vice President, Government Affairs & External Relations. Responsibilities include representing AAGLA members at City Council and Board of Supervisors meetings, engaging with officials, drafting advocacy materials, monitoring agendas, and conducting research. The role suits someone who enjoys public speaking, relationship-building, writing, and policy analysis.
