Job summary

The Accounting Assistant Technician at the DAFS Corrections Service Center (CSC) in Augusta works with the CSC Senior Financial Analyst to process restitution and supervision payments, ensuring correct logging and coding of transactions.

Responsibilities include daily check logs, cash receipts, printing victim checks, and preparing financial reports in line with GAAP and GASB. Strong communication and teamwork are essential under general supervision.

Qualifications

• Entry-level to intermediate education, training, and/or experience in accounting or another closely related field demonstrating competency applying accounting principles.
• Preference given to those with experience in reviewing/processing business transactions and preparing reports.
• Knowledge of GAAP and GASB standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform payment processing related to restitution and supervision payments.
• Ensure payments are logged and coded correctly.
• Complete daily check log and collect documentation for direct bills and related business office review.
• Process required cash receipts and print victim checks.
• Provide excellent customer service and adapt to changing priorities.
• Work under GAAP/GASB guidelines in maintaining accounts and preparing financial reports.
