Job summary

Gelson’s in Manhattan Beach, CA is hiring a Kitchen Production Team member to support daily operations in the kitchen department. You will prepare items according to Gelson’s recipes and quality standards, including salads, sandwiches, pizzas, pastas, dressings, entrees, and catering offerings.

You’ll work from scratch and finish items, handle proteins and sides using various cooking methods, and ensure food quality and proper rotation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior grocery retail experience preferred.
• Excellent knife skills and strong knowledge of food service operations.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present salads, sandwiches, pizzas, pastas, dressings, entrees, and catering items.
• Prepare salad production from scratch as well as finishing previously prepared items.
• Prepare proteins, entrees, and side dishes using baking, frying, grilling, roasting, and steaming.
• Display understanding of cooking techniques and monitor food quality to Gelson’s standards.
• Monitor quality, freshness, presentation, and rotation per store policy.
• Support kitchen staff and foster a positive, collaborative environment.
• Provide excellent customer service in all interactions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations.
• Be flexible and take on additional duties as needed.
• Other duties as required.
