Summary:

Under general direction of the Director of Mountain Operations and/or the Gondola/ Zipline Maintenance Supervisor and/or Lead, performs (at the semi-skilled level) preventative maintenance and repairs to the aerial ropeway, it’s subsystems and structures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all activities and decisions according to Icy Strait Point’s guiding principles: BAP: Best, Authentic, Profitable
  • Always keep safety foremost in your mind and actions when on the job.
  • Using tools designed per the manufacturers’ specifications, performs preventative maintenance and repairs to the gondola mechanical components or electrical systems in accordance with ANSI codes; records all such work performed on the gondola; continually expands scope of skills while learning from the Gondola Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assists in expediting materials needed to do preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Familiarizes self with gondola, maintenance, and operational procedures; learns and follows proper safety procedures at all times when performing maintenance work; uses proper safety equipment (i.e., harnesses, when climbing towers, work basket or riding on top of gondola cabins); applies or uses lock-out procedures to prevent unexpected start-up and damage to equipment and systems
  • Ensures that his/her training is kept current with common industry techniques and practices in emergency rope evacuation, emergency cabin evacuation, emergency/evac. drive operation, top terminal generator operation. Provides, or assists with the provision of, training of same to designated employees with subsequent recording of activity; keeps current on proper emergency procedures to be followed and key employees to contact as the emergency response team
  • May work on special facility projects as needed.
  • Is authorized to close the tramway operations due to adverse weather or operational conditions.
  • Is authorized to deny tramway access to any person who is considered not fit, competent or dangerous to himself, others or to the equipment.
  • Assumes responsibilities of Gondola Maintenance Supervisor/Lead during his/her absences.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Gondola lift and terminal environment sea level to 1,600ft elevation; extreme heights and dangerous overhead work areas exposed to inclement weather conditions; extremely dangerous electrical and/or mechanical conditions and equipment.
  • Routine movement in/out of an aerial gondola cabin as part of an aerial ropeway and lift operation; constant public interaction and communication; constant exposure to extreme heights; periodic exposure to dangerous equipment during emergency evacuations or power failures.
  • During emergency evacuations or equipment failure, expected to assist management. Must be able to hike trails to assist management in various emergencies (e.g., medical, missing persons, etc.) Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. of various equipment/supplies. ISP is a non-smoking facility with designated outside-smoking areas.
  • Willing to live in a remote, rural community
  • Comfortable traveling by small plane or ferry to and from a remote setting
  • Able to walk and drive on gravel roads in inclement weather

Compensation details: 70000-80000 Yearly Salary
