The Director of Instruction will deliver private, semi-private, and group lessons, build a robust student base, and provide an exceptional instructional experience. This role focuses on instruction and development with opportunities to lead clinics and camps, using TrackMan or video analysis as available.

Overview

The Golf Teaching Professional is responsible for leading and delivering a high-quality golf instruction and player-development program for Bishops Bay Country Club members, guests, and their families.

This position is focused primarily on golf instruction and the continued growth of the Club's instructional business. The Director of Instruction will provide individual and group instruction to golfers of all ages and skill levels, develop lasting relationships with students, and create an exceptional and personalized instructional experience.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished golf instructor, coach, and communicator who has demonstrated the ability to build and retain a strong student base while providing the level of service expected in a private club environment.

Experience Required
Required
  • Demonstrated experience providing golf instruction to adults and/or juniors.
  • Strong knowledge of golf fundamentals, ball flight, swing principles, short-game instruction, and overall player development.
  • Proven ability to develop strong student relationships and build or maintain an active lesson business.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to effectively teach golfers of varying ages, abilities, goals, and experience levels.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on member lesson demand, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as appropriate.
  • Ability to work outdoors and perform the physical requirements associated with golf instruction.
Preferred
  • PGA of America membership, Associate status, or active progress toward PGA membership.
  • Previous instructional experience at a private club, resort, high-end daily-fee facility, or recognized golf facility.
  • Teaching certification, specialized coaching credentials, or advanced education related to golf instruction and coaching.
  • Demonstrated success building and managing a high-volume lesson business.
  • Experience developing and leading junior golf programs, clinics, camps, and other player-development programming.
  • Experience utilizing TrackMan, Foresight, FlightScope, V1, or comparable instructional technology.
  • Experience with club fitting and equipment selection.
Essential Responsibilities
Golf Instruction & Player Development
  • Conduct private, semi-private, and group golf lessons for juniors and adults.
  • Assess each student's goals, skill level, physical abilities, and learning style to develop individualized instruction plans.
  • Provide instruction in full swing, short game, putting, course management, rules, etiquette, and other areas of player development.
  • Develop long-term player-development plans and provide students with constructive feedback and practice recommendations.
  • Utilize instructional technology, including launch monitors, video analysis, and other available teaching tools.
  • Maintain awareness of current golf instruction trends, techniques, technology, and player-development practices.
  • Develop strong relationships with students that support lesson retention and continued participation in instructional programming.
Camps, Clinics & Programming
  • Lead and participate in Club-sponsored golf clinics, camps, junior programs, demonstrations, and instructional events.
  • Develop programming for golfers of varying ages and skill levels, including junior, beginner, family, and experienced-player opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Head Golf Professional and Golf Operations team to identify opportunities to expand participation in instructional programming.
  • Promote instructional opportunities to the membership in coordination with the Club's communication and marketing standards.
Member Service
  • Provide a consistently professional, welcoming, and personalized experience for members and their guests.
  • Build strong relationships with the membership while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and Club standards.
  • Respond to lesson inquiries and student communications in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinate lesson scheduling, cancellations, payments, lesson packages, and related student communication.
  • Represent Bishops Bay Country Club professionally at all times.
Instructional Business & Administration
  • Maintain accurate records of lessons, attendance, instructional revenue, and student information.
  • Manage the Director of Instruction's lesson schedule and instructional availability to meet member demand.
  • Monitor lesson utilization, student retention, program participation, and instructional revenue.
  • Maintain instructional equipment and teaching areas in a clean, organized, professional, and safe condition.
  • Coordinate with Golf Operations regarding teaching-area access, scheduling, instructional technology, and equipment needs.
  • Protect confidential member information and appropriately use Club systems and resources.

This position is dedicated to instruction and player development and does not include routine golf shop, outside services, or other facility-coverage responsibilities.
