Job summary

Hampton's Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a part-time grounds technician to perform outdoor maintenance at the Hamptons Golf Course area, with up to 25 hours per week.

This position offers onsite training, safe work practices, and eligibility for benefits including free golf for you and your immediate family. Work includes weekend shifts as needed and interaction with the public on a recreational property in Hampton, VA.

This posting is intended to fill a position(s) at the Hamptons Golf Course: Always meticulously maintained, this 27-hole championship course offers varied elevations, gently rolling terrain, expansive fairways, inviting par threes, and Bentgrass greens. Minimum Requirements

• Incumbents must be eighteen (18) years of age. Graduation from high school or successful completion of the GED preferred.
• One (1) year of experience as a grounds technician, equipment operator, or in a skilled labor position preferred. Previous experience working on golf courses desirable.
• Requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; ability to perform heavy outside manual labor; good interpersonal skills and good customer service skills.
• Registered Technician Pesticide License preferred.
• This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy
• Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to an offer of employment or promotion.

Additional Requirements

• Incumbent performs duties with general direction from a team leader or more senior technician, but works within a team to carry out specific assignments without constant supervision.
• Duties may be performed on nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Frequent contact with the general public and other employees is required.
• This position is non-exempt.

This is a part-time position and the weekly hours will be no more than 25 hours per week, and may be less.
