Job summary

Sandia Golf Club, located in Albuquerque, NM, seeks a Full-Time Golf Course Superintendent to lead maintenance, budgeting, and capital projects for a premier golf facility. You will manage a team, oversee chemical applications, safety, and regulatory compliance to ensure top conditions for members and guests.

As an associate of Troon, you will drive ongoing improvements, coordinate with vendors, and mentor staff while growing your knowledge of golf club operations and course management.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent; 2–5 years related experience.
• Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, or plant/soil science.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Pesticide license preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans.
• Plans, organizes, and directs maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
• Supervises planting and cultural practices for turf grasses and ornamentals.
• Ensures that maintenance equipment is properly maintained.
• Procures supplies within budgetary limitations and keeps records.
• Keeps records of maintenance activities and costs; prepares reports.
• Implements sound purchasing procedures using preferred vendors.
• Reconciles and codes invoices, payroll, and related documents.
• Coordinates snow removal as needed.
• Ensures compliance with policies and regulations.
• Ensures training and licenses for staff; addresses environmental concerns.
• Ensures proper mixing, calibration, and application of chemicals/fertilizers.
• Manages department staff such as Assistant Superintendent, Greenskeeper, etc.
• Provides orientation and ongoing training; promotes safe practices.

Pay

$105,000 – $115,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans
• Plans, organizes, and directs the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers
• Supervises the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants
• Ensures that maintenance equipment is properly maintained
• Procures supplies and materials within budgetary limitations
• Keeps records of annual maintenance activities and costs; prepares reports
• Implements sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible
• Reconciles and provides timely coding of all invoices, payroll, and other required documents
• Coordinates snow removal (depending upon facility location)
• Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations
• Ensures that they and all associates obtain proper training and/or licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations; directly addresses all real or perceived environmental concerns
• Ensures proper mixing, calibration, and application of all chemicals and fertilizers used on the course
• Manages department members that may include, but are not limited to: Assistant Superintendent, 2nd Assistant Superintendent, Head Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician
• Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate; develops ongoing training programs
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance

Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, and two to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, or plant/soil science.
