Job summary

Twice in Naples, FL is seeking an experienced Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to support daily course maintenance, irrigation, and agronomic programs. The role focuses on supervision of foremen and staff, scheduling, equipment maintenance, and safe operating procedures.

The candidate should have 1–3 years in turf grass management, supervisory experience, and a strong interest in golf course best practices.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years turf grass management experience
  • Supervisory experience required
  • A four-year college degree preferred, but not required
  • GCSAA Member or apprentice preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of budgeting and expense management
  • Must possess basic computer skills - Word and Excel
  • Must have a strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business
  • Must be highly organized and efficient with a high attention to detail
  • Must have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and trains foreman, irrigations technician and other employees in the maintenance department
  • Prepares weekly schedules for foreman, irrigations staff and other employees in the maintenance department
  • Monitors inventory of all maintenance equipment and the use of the equipment, preventative maintenance schedule, and safety training
  • Works closely with Superintendent in managing annual budget and maintenance recordkeeping
  • Works closely with Superintendent in preparing short-term and long-term agronomic strategies to maintenance of the golf course daily, weekly, monthly and yearly fertilization, irrigation, etc. schedules
  • Calibrates and operates pesticide sprayers
  • Institute and implement all Troon Human Resources guidelines
  • Assists Superintendent in informing members about present and future maintenance activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager

Overview

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent. Under the Superintendents' supervision, the Assistant Superintendent participates in all maintenance of the golf course; tees, greens, fairways, roughs, cart paths, etc. Supervises the maintenance staff and does related work as required.
