The role requires a valid driver's license, a turf grass management degree or related field, ability to obtain pesticide license within six months, and 1-3 years of golf course maintenance experience. Shifts include holidays/weekends.
The Assistant Superintendent works with all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the golf course. The Assistant Superintendent is expected to observe golf course conditions and make suggestions or observations known to the Golf Course Superintendent. This position works in all facets of golf course management with an emphasis on irrigation, fertilizer/pesticide, and employee management under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent. The ideal candidate possesses a practical knowledge base in the following areas: maintenance of a golf course landscape - greens, tees, and fairways; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers, herbicides and pest control methods; drainage control methods; and irrigation systems including pumps and automatic controls.
