Job summary

Deerfield Golf Club in Newark, DE is seeking a Part-Time Golf Course Maintenance team member to join Troon. You will perform grounds maintenance including mowing, edging, bunkers, and soil preparation to keep the course in top condition.

No prior golf course experience is required, but a background in landscaping or general maintenance is helpful. A valid Driver's License is required. This position participates in Troon's network and offers standard benefits where applicable.

Qualifications

• Experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or general maintenance is helpful.
• Basic knowledge of turf care or landscape maintenance is a plus.
• Ability to read and follow instructions in English.

Responsibilities

• Performs general landscape maintenance using hand-held equipment.
• Rakes and maintains sand bunkers.
• Operates small machinery for edging, trimming, and mowing.
• Prepares soil beds for sod, seed, and vegetation.
• Performs course detail work including weed removal and debris clean-up.
• Assists with golf course set-up procedures.
• Operates utility vehicles for hauling materials and removing debris.
• Performs other duties as required.

We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. General Purpose:
Performs a diverse range of activities involved in golf course maintenance and upkeep. Performs grounds maintenance and related tasks as required. Previous golf course experience is not required; however, a background in landscaping or general maintenance is helpful.

• Performs general landscape maintenance using hand-held equipment.
• Rakes and maintains sand bunkers.
• Operates small machinery to assist with edging, trimming, and mowing.
• Prepares soil beds for sod, seed, and vegetative material.
• Performs course detail work including weed removal and debris clean‑up.
• Assists with golf course set‑up procedures.
• Operates utility vehicles for hauling materials and removing debris.
• Performs skilled duties related to experience (pruning, plugging, etc.).
• Operates all equipment safely and remains aware of associates and their surrounding work areas.
• Incorporates safe work practices in all aspects of job performance.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as required.

Education/Experience:
Less than high school education; or up to one month of related experience or training in landscaping, groundskeeping, or general maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous golf course experience is not required.

Physical Demands:
Regularly stands, walks, and uses hands; reaches with hands and arms. Occasionally climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, crawls, or crouches. Regularly talks or hears. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds; up to 50 pounds with assistance.

Environment/Noise:
Regularly works in wet or humid conditions and near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally works in high or precarious places and in areas with fumes or airborne particles. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally works in extreme heat and experiences vibration. Noise level is loud.

Certificates/Licenses:
Valid Driver's License

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:

• Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. associates may be required to communicate with English‑speaking customers or co‑workers; equipment manuals are in English).
• Basic knowledge of landscaping, turf care, or general maintenance is a plus.
• Willingness to learn golf course‑specific practices and procedures.
