Job summary

Audubon Institute in New Orleans, LA is seeking an Irrigation Technician to operate, repair, and maintain the golf course irrigation system under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent.

Two years of related experience, ability to work underground, troubleshoot, weld, and a right-first-time attitude are required; knowledge of Rain Bird controllers is a plus.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in irrigation systems, plumbing, landscaping, or related field.
• Ability to work under ground level in making repairs to irrigation system.
• A do it right the first time attitude.
• Troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to weld pipe.

Responsibilities

• Waters all golf course turf as needed with input from the Golf Course Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent.
• Meets with Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for daily communication on course needs.
• Monitors weather conditions and adjusts watering programs accordingly in conjunction with superintendent goals.
• Assist in maintaining records of rainfall totals and watering cycles.
• Repair the irrigation system, heads, and pipes as needed.
• Maintains inventory and ordering of irrigation system parts and supplies.
• Works with Superintendent/Asst. Superintendent to evaluate and edit watering programs in the irrigation software as needed.
• Maintains pumps, pumpstation and pump house.
• Maintains the cleaning/locating of all sprinkler heads, valve and wiring boxes.
