Ideal candidates have 2–3 years relevant experience, possibly with technical schooling, and must be able to obtain a state pesticide license within six months.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to obtain State pesticide license within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
  • Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties.
  • Assist in the planning, organizing and direction of the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
  • Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees and ornamental plants.
  • Ensure that construction equipment is properly maintained.
  • Assist in the procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations.
  • Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors, when possible.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations.
  • Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations; address directly all real or perceived environmental concerns.
  • Manage department members that may include Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
  • Assure that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate and develop ongoing training programs.
  • Monitor business volume and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
  • Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
