Experience Required
- Technical school education is a plus but not required.
- 2-3 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to obtain State pesticide license within 6 months of employment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
- Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties.
- Assist in the planning, organizing and direction of the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
- Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees and ornamental plants.
- Ensure that construction equipment is properly maintained.
- Assist in the procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations.
- Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors, when possible.
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations.
- Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations; address directly all real or perceived environmental concerns.
- Manage department members that may include Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
- Assure that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate and develop ongoing training programs.
- Monitor business volume and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
- Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
