Job summary
Placements24 is seeking an experienced Metallurgist to join a Welkom-based gold processing plant. You will optimize recovery, analyze plant performance, and troubleshoot metallurgical issues to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy (or related field) and at least 6 years of gold processing experience in a plant setting, with strong knowledge of CIL, CIP, flotation, and smelting. Relocation support may be provided.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 6 years in gold processing metallurgy in a plant environment.
- Knowledge of CIL, CIP, flotation, and smelting.
Responsibilities
- Monitor metallurgical performance focusing on recovery, grade, and reagent consumption.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and identify root causes of deviations.
- Conduct metallurgical test work and pilot trials to evaluate new processes.
- Develop and implement process improvements to increase gold recovery and reduce costs.
- Provide technical guidance to junior metallurgists and plant operators.
