HappyRobot in San Francisco is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to own meaningful parts of our product and infrastructure end-to-end. You will thrive in ambiguity, care about craft, and seek real ownership of what you build.

You’ll design, build, and operate backend services that power our AI workflows, improve reliability and observability, and collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product, and founders. We value speed with focus and a product-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience.
• Strong backend engineering experience, focusing on building scalable systems.
• Experience with Go or willingness to work with Go in production.
• Solid understanding of system design, APIs, data modeling, and service reliability.
• Product-oriented mindset and comfort making tradeoffs in a fast-moving environment.
• Experience operating and maintaining production services.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services that support our core product.
• Improve system reliability, performance, and observability.
• Work on real-time infrastructure that powers voice-based AI workflows.
• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product, and founders.
• Ship to production frequently and iterate based on customer needs and system behavior.
