Job summary

Abbott in Pomona, CA is seeking a Chemist I for a 12-month assignment. You will perform GMP-compliant manufacturing, analyze samples via EIA, and maintain precise records while supporting continuous improvement and Lean activities.

The role requires BA/BS in chemistry or biology and 1–2 years in a lab, with strong communication and teamwork skills. On-site position with comprehensive benefits through waiting periods.

Qualifications

• BA or BS in Chemistry or Biological Sciences.
• 1-2 years’ experience in laboratory environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions, maintains accurate records and notes, and carries out assignments safely.
• Knowledge of lab equipment and their operation preferred.
• Demonstrate problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to laboratory safety rules.
• Read and understand SOPs related to job functions.
• Maintain maintenance of laboratory equipment and logbooks.
• Manufacture products via Batch Records and SOPs per GMP guidelines.
• Prepare antibody solutions, drug-positive solutions, enzyme-conjugate solutions, EIA calibrators/controls and reagents.
• Perform analytical EIA in-process testing.
• Monitor daily temperature.
• Support manufacturing goals and Lean initiatives.
• Operate equipment safely per established practices.
• Maintain records/notebooks; data entry; report results to supervisor.
• Keep workspace neat and properly labeled materials.
