Job summary

Via is seeking a General Manager in Residence to lead a high-stakes, high-visibility market transformation. You’ll begin with a 2‑month onboarding sprint in NYC and spend the first year in a local market running a transit network, owning performance, partnerships, a 30+ frontline team, and a $15M+ P&L.

At deployment end, you transition to a General Manager role in a major market such as New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, or Dallas, with opportunity to shape operations and strategy

Qualifications

• Leadership to motivate and inspire across drivers to agency CEOs.
• Ownership mentality to build preventive systems and fix issues.
• Data-driven decision making; strong analytical judgement in field and on spreadsheets.
• Ability to manage complex, high-stakes relationships with public partners.
• Mission alignment with public agency partners serving communities lacking options.
• Flexible, adaptable to rapid change and fast-moving markets.
• Able to delegate, prioritize, and take responsibility across tasks.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end operating strategy for Via’s service on behalf of our partner.
• Define and manage KPIs for on-time performance, rider satisfaction, safety, and cost.
• Lead a 30+ frontline team of operators and drivers; hire, coach, and set culture.
• Build and maintain relationships with transit agencies and community stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement in vehicle operations, maintenance, and service delivery.
• Influence the product roadmap for Via’s Fixed Route services.
