Job summary

McLane is seeking a General Manager Designate I to develop and lead our distribution and transportation operations. The role includes transitioning through an informal training process, shadowing senior leaders, and taking on facility leadership on projects as needed.

The position emphasizes developing teammates, implementing growth strategies, and maintaining safety and compliance across the operation while preparing to assume a named division within the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 10 years of progressive distribution center and transportation leadership, including P&L, logistics, and general management.
• Top/senior leader with responsibility for warehouse, storage, or transportation operation highly preferred.
• Knowledge of the industry and customer needs to guide the business direction and improve financial results.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job tasks safely.

Responsibilities

• Translate best practices to McLane’s culture, policies, and operations.
• Shadow a senior leader and lead special projects and the facility when needed.
• Employ business development strategies to drive KPIs.
• Ensure optimum levels of operating performance are achieved.
• Develop an annual operating plan, set meaningful targets, and plan strategies to achieve success.
• Cultivate customer relationships within the division and corporate staff; collaborate to meet objectives.
