Job summary

Mount Vernon Country Club in Virginia is seeking a General Manager/Chief Operating Officer with a proven leadership record to guide operations, culture, and strategic initiatives. The GM/COO will oversee financial discipline, capital projects, and service delivery across dining, recreation, and facilities, while maintaining member satisfaction and engagement.

The role requires a visible leader who can mentor department heads, collaborate with the board, manage budgets, and drive modernization

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership in a private member‑focused club.
• Strong financial management and budgeting experience.
• Experience leading capital projects and campus master planning.
• Experience with HR processes and staff development.
• Degree in Hospitality or Business preferred; CCM designation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership to align operations with the club's mission.
• Oversee daily operations including dining, recreation, facilities, and member services.
• Lead capital projects and oversee master planning and capital budgeting.
• Develop staff through mentoring, training, and performance management.
• Collaborate with the Board and committees; ensure member satisfaction.
