Job summary

Phoenix Contact is seeking a Supervisor, International Trade Compliance and Transportation to lead a team handling import/export and transportation operations, ensuring compliance and efficiency across global shipments.

You will apply advanced knowledge of trade laws, classify HTS/ECCN, manage internal processes, and collaborate with brokers, freight forwarders, suppliers, and global affiliates to mitigate risk and improve controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field.
• 15+ years' experience with leadership responsibilities.
• MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• Professional certification in international trade or supply chain management preferred.
• Experience with global trade management, transportation management, or ERP systems.
• Advanced knowledge of international trade regulations and customs compliance (C-TPAT, ECCN, HTS, Incoterms).
• Knowledge of Phoenix Contact global operations.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, solve problems, and make recommendations.
• Detail oriented with high accuracy under pressure.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the international trade compliance and transportation team.
• Evaluate performance and conduct reviews with Materials and Supply Chain Manager.
• Determine staffing levels.
• Lead trade compliance operations including HTS, ECCN, and import/export processes.
• Train and mentor associates in import/export compliance.
• Stay current on tariff laws, regulations, and developments; provide guidance.
• Direct day-to-day operations and projects in transportation and import/export compliance.
• Develop and maintain internal process specifications.
• Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and suppliers for compliance.
• Resolve customs questions and support timely clearance.
• Maintain country-specific records and trade agreement files.
• Audit import/export transactions and verify broker charges.
• Verify third-party invoices and duties with accounting.
• Identify preferential duty qualification under trade agreements.
• Support carrier selection and contract negotiations with Corporate HQ.
• Generate performance invoices for international shipments.
• Other duties as assigned.
