Job summary

thyssenkrupp rothe erde is seeking an Import/Export Compliance Manager to lead the global trade compliance program and shape policies across our international operations.

You will coordinate licensing, classification, origin verification, and screenings, while partnering with Legal, Compliance, and logistics teams to ensure regulatory adherence and efficient, compliant shipments across borders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Logistics, or related field preferred.
• Licensed Customs Broker, Certified Customs Specialist, or other trade compliance certification preferred.
• Five years of import/export, customs, or global trade compliance experience, preferably in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Company's primary point of contact and subject matter expert for all import, export, customs, and trade compliance matters.
• Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve trade compliance policies, procedures, internal controls, and work instructions to ensure compliance with EAR, ECRA, CBP, OFAC, and other trade laws.
• Analyze domestic and international business transactions to determine applicable import and export requirements, verify regulatory compliance, and ensure transactions satisfy corporate policies prior to shipment.
• Manage export licensing activities, including determining ECCNs, preparing license applications, evaluating license exceptions, and maintaining records.
• Classify imported products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, determine country of origin, and ensure compliance with customs valuation and preferential trade programs.
• Coordinate and review all import and export documentation, including invoices, origin certificates, USMCA certifications, and other documents for compliant shipments.
• Partner with customs brokers, freight forwarders, government agencies, and third-party logistics providers to facilitate compliant import/export and resolve issues.
• Monitor changes to international trade regulations and assess business impact.
• Review customer orders, contracts, technical data, shipping docs, and government requirements for compliance.
• Conduct denied party and sanctions screening of customers, vendors, and partners using approved screening systems.
• Maintain accurate import/export compliance records and coordinate post-entry corrections and disclosures with brokers.
• Collaborate with Legal, Corporate Compliance, Regional HQ, and leadership to align trade compliance with corporate initiatives.
• Work cross-functionally with Sales, Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, IT, Customer Service, and Supply Chain to integrate trade compliance into processes.
• Develop, deliver, and document trade compliance training and provide ongoing guidance on customs/export requirements.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education
