SpaceX seeks a Global Trade Compliance Counsel in Washington, DC to serve as the legal SME on export controls across SpaceX programs. You will collaborate with engineering, regulatory agencies, and internal teams to ensure ITAR/EAR compliance and robust anti-corruption practices.

The role emphasizes policy development, investigations, risk assessment, and effective advisory support to SpaceX business partners on complex trade matters.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school.
• 3+ years in a corporate legal department or law firm advising on U.S. regulatory matters, including export controls, sanctions, national-security or trade matters.
• Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. export laws and regulations and U.S. economic sanctions.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice concerning export-controlled commodities, ITAR/EAR obligations.
• Drive growth and improvement for export compliance programs; draft and update policies, close control gaps.
• Partner with engineering on jurisdiction and classification for hardware, software, and technology.
• Engage with the Departments of State and Commerce on regulator interpretations and required authorizations.
• Prepare and manage export licenses and license exceptions as applicable.
• Lead investigations into potential non-compliance; prepare reports and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct internal compliance audits and help streamline policies and procedures.
• Develop trusted advisor relationships with internal SpaceX business partners.
