Job summary

Takeda is seeking a Global Therapeutic Research Lead in Cambridge, MA, to steer major GI inflammation discovery programs toward clinic and INDs. The role requires leading diverse teams, shaping asset strategy, and partnering with clinical, translational, and external collaborators.

You will mentor teams, drive strategic project delivery, and advance multiple modalities, including biologics, while aligning with Takeda's TA strategy and governance committees.

Qualifications

• PhD in a scientific discipline with 15+ years experience, or MS with 21+ years, or BS with 23+ years.
• 10–12 years industry and global management experience in Immunology and Inflammation.
• Extensive experience leading drug discovery teams and projects in pharma/biotech, gastroenterology and inflammation.
• Deep understanding of target identification, hit-to-lead and preclinical development.
• Proven track record leading 5+ discovery projects to nomination or beyond.
• Major role in 3+ INDs.
• Experience delivering assets with biologics and multiple modalities.
• Excellent inclusive leadership inspiring diverse teams.
• Strong business acumen with regulatory and commercial knowledge for modalities.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage top drug discovery projects from target ID to preclinical development.
• Articulate and own project strategy with internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate on future portfolio investment within Inflammation/Immunology.
• Represent core expertise for the project across the organization.
• Partner with Clinical and Translational teams to refine asset strategy.
• Ensure alignment to the TA strategy and commercial value.
• Mentor global project teams and elevate discovery capability.
• Drive partnerships with academic and industry collaborators.
• Foster innovation and scientific excellence within the team.
