Job summary

Transamerica seeks a Head of Sustainability to lead the global sustainability function, advise the Executive Committee, and drive the corporate sustainability agenda. You will shape strategies, governance, and disclosures across U.S. and EU contexts.

You will oversee reporting frameworks, data governance, and external assurance while collaborating with Finance, Investments, Risk, Legal, and Corporate Affairs to advance responsible investment and climate initiatives at a NY-based office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 15+ years of experience in sustainability, corporate strategy, corporate affairs, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in financial services, insurance, asset management, or related regulated industry.
• Experience operating in a global organization with cross-border sustainability programs.
• Ability to balance global sustainability priorities with U.S. regulatory, commercial, governance, and reputational requirements.
• Strong understanding of sustainability regulation and standards.
• Sustainability, climate, responsible investment, or reporting certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the global sustainability strategy and three-year cycle, setting 2030 priorities and reviewing regulatory developments.
• Oversee governance bodies and provide reporting to the Board of Directors.
• Align the sustainability agenda with the Group’s strategy and evolving regulatory expectations in the U.S. and EU.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. regulations and the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, including materiality, disclosures, and external assurance.
• Oversee annual reporting and disclosures under frameworks like SASB/ISSB, NACE, SEC, CDP, and related standards.
• Maintain sustainability data governance, internal controls, audit readiness, and assurance processes.
• Oversee measurement and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1-3 and financed emissions).
• Serve as a senior spokesperson to investors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate across Finance, Investments, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Affairs to support execution and policy alignment.
