Job summary

Protolabs is seeking a Global Supply Chain Director to lead our world-wide supplier ecosystem and drive network optimization. This hybrid role requires onsite presence Tuesday-Thursday in Maple Plain, MN, and oversees a team of 16 across multiple regions to deliver scalable, cost-effective supply chain performance for customers worldwide.

You will shape capacity planning, partner strategy, and performance management while partnering with Product Management, Sourcing, Logistics, and Quality teams

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, Business, or a related field.
• 12+ years’ experience in progressive roles within supply chain management and supplier development.
• 5+ years of management experience leading teams and cross-functional initiatives.
• Proven track record of building international supply chains across regions.
• Experience in leading and managing supply teams and improving supplier performance.
• Expertise in developing strategic relationships with key manufacturing partners.
• Hands-on experience planning supply networks, capacity, and capabilities.
• Ability to innovate and implement strategic solutions for network models.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a global partner network aligned with commercial needs and pricing.
• Lead partner evaluation, onboarding, and performance management with clear KPIs.
• Oversee demand forecasting and capacity planning to prevent delivery failures.
• Build pipeline of prospective manufacturing partners to fill capacity gaps.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Sourcing, Logistics, and Quality teams to optimize KPIs.
• Establish resilience strategies and contingency routing across regions.
