Job summary

Activ8 Recruitment & Solutions in Fort Lee, NJ seeks a Steel Business Development Specialist to manage customer accounts, respond to inquiries promptly, visit customers, develop new suppliers, establish reports and advise customers.

This full-time, exempt role includes a bonus, attractive benefits and a 401(k). You will strengthen existing relationships, source steel and metal suppliers, coordinate with procurement and logistics, and travel regularly to domestic and international locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
• 2–3 years outside sales experience in the steel industry
• Strong interpersonal and initiative
• Autonomous and motivated
• Willing to travel domestically and internationally (North America, South America, and Asia)

Responsibilities

• Quote price and lead times through coordination with procurement and internal resources
• Generate sales and meet budgetary requirements (volume and gross margins)
• Support sales with forecasting information on customer activity and opportunities
• Coordinate with logistics on scheduling and follow-up of deliveries
• Strengthen existing customer relationships and develop new ones
• Marketing analysis: monitor local competitors and market evolution
• Provide accurate market reports
• Coordinate with project sales team for upcoming projects
• Update sales database and prepare reports for management
• Establish sourcing strategies and new suppliers for steel and metals
• Other duties as assigned
