Job summary

ORTEC, a unit of AMETEK, located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, seeks a Global Software Manager to lead software development across applications, embedded systems, firmware, and cloud-connected solutions.

You will set technical direction, drive Azure DevOps practices, and manage cross-functional teams delivering new product development, sustaining engineering, and platform modernization while prioritizing cybersecurity and quality across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/EE/CE or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years software engineering with progressive responsibility.
• 3+ years of people leadership or software management.
• Experience delivering software for complex instrumentation or high-reliability products.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, embedded systems, firmware, and hardware/software integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead software strategy, architecture direction, and execution standards for ORTEC applications, embedded systems, firmware, device interfaces, and product features.
• Drive development of Windows applications, embedded software, instrument control systems, data acquisition solutions, communication protocols, diagnostics, installers, and hardware/software integrations.
• Lead secure software development lifecycle practices and promote a culture of cybersecurity and software development best practices.
• Manage configuration management, documentation standards, defect triage processes, and long-term software maintainability.
• Lead teams across product development, sustaining activities, and platform modernization.
• Coordinate with engineering, product management, quality, manufacturing, service, sales, and customer support to align software deliverables with business objectives.
