Job summary

Illinois International – University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking a Coordinator for International Safety and Security to support health, safety, and well-being of members engaged in international travel. The role provides operational and administrative support across safety functions, serving as a central contact for travelers and participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation for crisis response.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of education, training, and/or work experience in international safety, security, risk management, emergency management, student programming, or education abroad.
• Master’s Degree may substitute for one year of work experience.
• Experience living, studying, or working abroad preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations related to travel insurance and registration processes.
• Respond to inquiries from students, faculty, and staff.
• Support insurance claims, case management, and traveler assistance requests.
• Liaise with external providers to maintain service standards and update procedures.
• Coordinate and deliver pre-departure safety training and drills.
