Job summary

Westlake Chemical Corporation seeks a Chief Risk Officer to lead global risk management and insurance strategy, aligning risk programs with strategic objectives across manufacturing, procurement, logistics, and legal.

The role requires 15-20 years in risk management and insurance, a bachelor’s in business, and MBA/JD preferred; travel up to 20%. This executive position is based in the United States and reports to the CEO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.
• 15-20 years of relevant experience in risk management and insurance.
• MBA and/or JD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee the Company’s global insurance program and lead cross-functional risk management processes across manufacturing, procurement, transportation and logistics, trade compliance, commercial, HR, and legal functions.
• Lead global enterprise risk management program and proactive risk mitigation.
• Provide people leadership by directing cross-functional risk management initiatives and ensuring effective identification, communication, and mitigation of risks enterprise-wide.
• Direct and oversee the Company’s global insurance program including property, general liability, casualty, and excess insurance.
• Develop and execute a robust strategy to manage risk through direct insurance, self-insurance, and reinsurance while managing overall cost profile.
• Develop strategy to identify self-insured risk to offset through reinsurance programs.
• Oversee administration and management of claims under self-insured retention programs to reduce loss exposure and costs.
• Review underlying insurance contracts to address current or emerging risk and coverage.
