Job summary

International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) is seeking a detail-oriented Program Officer to support the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI). The role focuses on planning, budgeting, and successful event delivery across virtual, hybrid, and in-person settings.

You will mentor a Program Coordinator, manage vendor relations, and collaborate with programs, communications, alumni, and monitoring teams to maximize impact.

Qualifications

• BA degree required with 3–5 years of program/event management experience.
• Experience implementing international education, exchange, or leadership programs.
• Proven ability to plan large in-person and virtual events with vendors and partners.
• Experience with US government grants or donor-funded programs is a plus.
• Strong budgeting, procurement, and financial tracking skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day planning, coordination, and implementation of YLAI events (virtual, hybrid, in-person).
• Supervise a Program Coordinator; provide coaching and development feedback.
• Manage event logistics, venue coordination, catering, AV, accessibility, and communications.
• Coordinate with vendors, hotels, speakers, and internal teams for seamless execution.
• Monitor timelines and budgets; develop run-of-show documents and contingency plans.
