Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) seeks an experienced Application Engineer for our Global Accounts team to collaborate with industrial power system customers worldwide and tackle complex problems with SEL products.

You will deliver visits, demos, and training, develop customer-specific materials, teach SEL University courses, present at events, and contribute to improving feedback, training content, and processes while travelling 30-40% internationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of experience with power system protection and relays.
• Knowledge of utility and industrial power systems with emphasis on protection, control, and operations.
• Skills in teaching power system principles and concepts.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Willingness to travel 30-40%, including international destinations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with Account Managers, ES, and customers to provide innovative solutions to complex problems.
• Assisting customers with SEL products through visits, demos, training, and calls.
• Developing customer‑specific training material and teaching expertise in power systems and SEL products.
• Presenting at SEL events, industry meetings, and conferences.
• Teaching SEL University courses.
• Publishing application guides, course materials, and technical papers; reviewing others’ work.
• Enhancing customer feedback processes, training materials, and lead improvement initiatives.
