Job summary

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) seeks a Payroll Manager at its corporate office in St. Louis, MO.

The role directs timely and accurate payroll for domestic and international employees, including ministers, and partners with HR, Accounting, and service entities to ensure compliance and payroll integrity. You will oversee payroll systems, lead staff, manage tax filings, and support audits, while maintaining strong internal controls and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field required.
• Professional certification (CPP) is a plus.
• Six years’ accounting experience with a minimum of three years payroll automated system in a complex multifaceted organization.
• International payroll management experience preferred.
• Experience supervising payroll staff.
• Experience with Paycom and Banner accounting software a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee payroll operations for all serviced entities, including domestic and international employees and clergy, ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing.
