Job summary

National Church Residences seeks a Payroll Manager to lead all payroll operations, ensuring accurate, timely pay and regulatory compliance across multiple states. You will drive process improvements, maintain strong controls, and partner with HR, Finance, and IT to optimize Workday-based payroll workflows.

The role requires a strategic, hands-on leader who can scale payroll operations, manage risk, and deliver high-quality service to employees and leadership teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 7+ years in payroll
• 3+ years of people leadership experience
• Experience with federal, state, local payroll requirements
• Experience with enterprise HRIS/payroll systems; Workday preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end payroll leadership and accountability across the organization
• Lead, coach, and develop the payroll team; ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Establish payroll controls, audits, reconciliations, and processes improvements
• Partner with Finance, HR, and technology to optimize payroll systems and reporting
