Job summary

Xaira Therapeutics is seeking a hands-on Payroll Manager to oversee all payroll activities, ensuring accurate, on-time payments and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will collaborate with HR, Accounting, and external providers to build scalable payroll infrastructure.

Responsibilities include managing end-to-end payroll for multi-state employees, processing bonuses and off-cycle payments, maintaining calendars, and driving process improvements to support long-term growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an accounting/finance/HR field.
• 5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state administration.
• Experience administering employee expense reimbursement and corporate card programs.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll tax regulations and wage-hour laws.
• Experience with payroll and expense management systems (e.g., ADP, UKG Ready, Concur, Ramp, or similar).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end payroll for all employees, including regular payroll, bonuses, and off-cycle payments.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of multi-state payroll.
• Review payroll registers and perform reconciliations across US and UK jurisdictions prior to finalization.
• Maintain payroll calendars and ensure all deadlines are met.
• Process new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, promotions, and other payroll changes.
• Administer Leave of Absence (LOA) payroll calculations, ensuring accurate pay and deductions.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries professionally and confidentially.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies promptly.
