Job summary

Via Licensing Alliance in San Francisco seeks a senior legal strategist to lead global litigation strategy. You will oversee high-stakes patent and commercial litigation, manage outside counsel, and partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to support licensing and business objectives.

The role requires exceptional judgment, deep IP law knowledge, and the ability to translate complex issues into actionable business guidance.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
• 10+ years of litigation experience focused on patent, intellectual property, and complex commercial matters.
• Proven ability to lead high-stakes litigation involving sophisticated technology and licensing issues.
• Experience managing outside counsel, litigation budgets, and executive-level reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end litigation strategy and execution, including assessment, pleadings, discovery, and trial prep.
• Advise senior leadership on litigation risk, dispute resolution, and licensing enforcement.
• Direct outside counsel to ensure strategic alignment and budget discipline.
• Evaluate licensing requests, infringement claims, settlements, and strategic opportunities.
• Oversee discovery strategy, document review, and expert engagement with risk management in mind.
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop positions supporting business objectives.
• Develop practical recommendations for disputes including settlements and arbitration.
• Build processes for litigation management, reporting, and matter tracking.
