Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Morton, IL is seeking a Logistics Technician to manage supplier relationships and coordinate the flow of aftermarket parts to meet dealer and customer demand on a 1st shift, on-site role.

You will collaborate with suppliers, buyers, and engineering teams to resolve supply chain challenges, improve delivery performance, and maintain parts availability to keep Caterpillar machines operating in the field.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of approximately 25 suppliers supporting aftermarket parts and ensure adequate supply to meet dealer and customer demand.
• Collaborate daily with suppliers to monitor production schedules, shipment status, and order fulfillment performance.
• Drive timely shipments of parts to U.S. Distribution Centers (DCs) to support machine uptime and minimize downtime.
• Identify and resolve supply chain constraints from high demand, supplier backlogs, or capacity issues.
• Partner with procurement buyers to address supplier issues, including costs, MOQs, and sourcing challenges.
• Coordinate with buyers to identify alternate suppliers when needed.
• Work with engineering teams and suppliers to resolve material-related issues and support alternative materials.
• Monitor supplier shipping performance and drive corrective actions to improve delivery reliability.
• Manage PartsViz tasks and supplier tickets within service-level expectations.
• Collaborate with suppliers through MRC tools for schedule updates and delivery commitments.
• Analyze supply, demand, and inventory impacts to mitigate risks and maintain parts availability.
• Build strong supplier relationships to support goals and continuous improvement.
• Support the flow of aftermarket parts through the supply chain to ensure timely delivery.
