Job summary

GSMA in Washington, USA invites a senior engineer to join the North America team as a technical policy and standards liaison, representing GSMA with government, operators and vendors worldwide. The role emphasizes 5G/6G evolution, dual-use networking, AI-enabled infrastructure, and collaboration with NTIA/ATIS to advance global standards while shaping North American initiatives.

Contract work until 31 December 2027 with renewal options; remote working available and a chance to influence industry

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in wireless telecommunications; Defence Systems development or technical policy role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of 3GPP standards, evolving 5G & 6G architecture, ISAC, spectrum, and network virtualization.
  • Established network within NTIA, ATIS and overall U.S. wireless industry.

Responsibilities

  • Represent GSMA within Washington in fora and groups discussing technology evolution to represent GSMA’s technical interest, including spectrum management and Dual-Use scenarios.
  • Provide technical input for submissions regarding global network standards and technology.
  • Promote consensus on technical industry positions, including open RAN, ISAC and AI integration in 6G.
  • Serve as a point of contact for US-based operator members on issues related to technology evolution and consensus gathering.
  • Advise and participate in GSMA North America forums, fostering collaboration to accelerate technical standards.
  • Foster innovation in academia and startups for future technology awareness.
