Job description

About the company

the company’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the role

the company's mission depends on our people being able to do their work wherever that work needs to happen. Global Mobility is what makes that possible.

This role is the operational heart of that work. You will be responsible for business travel compliance at the company — business visas, posted worker and social security obligations, and documentation that get our people across borders — together with the entity transfers that move employees between our legal entities as the company grows. You will also support the rest of our mobility programs: relocations, international assignments, and short-term placements, along with the project work that comes with them as they grow.

Key responsibilities
  • Own business travel compliance cases end to end. Business visas, PWD, Social Security registration. You decide what a case needs, work the documentation to ground, and get people where they are going. Novel fact patterns will land on your desk without precedent. You research it, form a view, and check it with your manager before we commit.
  • Support employees through relocations and assignments. You are the person they come to from the day they accept to the day they arrive. You initiate cases with our providers, keep the move on track, and answer the questions people have when they are moving their life to another country.
  • Own the experience of every entity transfer. You execute the process end to end, and you hold the experience: the employee always knows where things stand, stakeholders such as Payroll, People Services, and Legal have what they need before they ask, and nothing falls between systems. A transfer can be a big moment in someone's working life. Your work is what makes it feel seamless.
  • Be the first line for global mobility questions. Employees, hiring managers, and recruiters come to you first. You answer most of it yourself, elevate the genuinely novel, and turn the questions you keep getting into documentation so you stop getting them.
  • Hold our providers to their commitments. You will know their process well enough to tell what they cannot do from what they simply have not done yet — and you will say so, in a relationship forward manner.
  • Pick up the project work as our programs grow. You handle the exceptions, so you see the patterns before anyone else: a policy that needs rewriting because the same case keeps coming up, a new provider to implement, a country we have not sent anyone to before. Scoped with your manager, run by you.
Minimum qualifications
  • Have worked in global mobility. We do not expect expertise across business visas, relocation, *and* mobility tax. We do expect that you have personally owned cases and can walk us through one.
  • Are relentlessly responsive. You treat employees and colleagues as people navigating a stressful moment, not as tickets. You close loops before anyone has to chase you.
  • Explain complicated things simply. You can make a visa process legible in writing, quickly, and without jargon.
  • Look for the repeatable thing inside the manual thing. You have made your own work faster before, and you would rather build the fix than absorb the pain.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience with entity transfers, business travel compliance including PWD filings, or Social Security notifications
  • Familiarity with Workday, Greenhouse, or Jira
  • Hands-on experience using Claude or other LLM tooling in their daily work
  • Experience at a startup growing quickly, where the process is not always written yet

How we're different

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At the company we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts.
