Job summary

GlaxoSmithKline is seeking a Global Publications Director to lead strategic publication plans aligned with Global Medical Plans and publication strategy. The role directs matrix teams to develop long‑term publication plans that connect asset, portfolio, therapy area and business priorities.

You will ensure timely execution, oversight of publication tracking, and compliance with GPP and ICMJE, while engaging stakeholders across functions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in science, pharmacy, allied health, medical communications, or related discipline.
Minimum of 8 years' pharmaceutical industry experience, including publications management, scientific communications, medical affairs, or external scientific engagement.
Minimum of 5 years' experience developing and executing strategic publication plans in pharma/biotech.
Experience leading cross-functional or matrix publication teams and aligning stakeholders.
Experience developing publication plans aligned with medical strategy and regional needs.
Experience managing multiple concurrent publication projects and timelines.
Experience communicating publication strategy, progress, risks, and metrics to senior leaders.
Experience managing stakeholder relationships across internal and external partners.
Experience applying Good Publication Practice, ICMJE guidance, and company policy to publication planning.
Experience identifying and mitigating publication-related risks.
Experience managing external agency partners, budgets, and related financial processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

Lead the development of strategic publication plans aligned with Global Medical Plans and organizational objectives.
Direct matrix teams to create long-term publication plans connecting asset and business strategies.
Ensure timely execution of publication plans following GPP, ICMJE, and quality standards.
Review priority publications and support reporting and monitoring processes.
Collaborate with a Publications Associate Director on asset-level work where applicable.
Communicate publication strategy and metrics to senior leaders and stakeholders.
Oversee external agency management, budgets, and vendor relationships.
