Job summary

The ESAB Group Inc. seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer in Denton, TX to drive CAD design for scarfing machines and steel conditioning equipment. You will create 3D models in SolidWorks, convert legacy drawings, manage drawings with Windchill, and provide design input and customer support worldwide.

This role requires cross‑functional collaboration, travel for installations, and adherence to GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards. Strong communication across time zones is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and 2D CAD.
• Experience with Windchill or similar PLM systems.
• Knowledge of industrial machinery design.
• Familiarity with steel industry processes; prior steel mill experience preferred.
• Strong communication and ability to work across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 3D models and assemblies in SolidWorks.
• Convert legacy 2D drawings into accurate 3D models.
• Implement and maintain a drawing control system using Windchill.
• Provide design input and support for scarfing machine systems (fluid control, frames, pneumatics).
• Serve as technical liaison for customers and documentation.
• Install, start up, repair, and support SIP products globally.
• Test equipment and troubleshoot deviations from design specs.
• Provide on-site and remote customer support.
