Job summary

ESAB Corporation in Denton, TX is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to drive CAD design for Steel Industry Products. You will create and modify 3D models in SolidWorks, convert legacy drawings, and manage drawing control using Windchill while supporting scarfing machine systems.

Travel is extensive and you will collaborate across time zones, provide design input, and assist customers with technical inquiries, installation, and troubleshooting on SIP equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and at least one 2D CAD system.
• Experience with Windchill or similar PLM systems.
• Knowledge of industrial machinery design.
• Steel mill experience preferred.
• Experience creating and managing engineering documentation standards.
• Strong understanding of fluid control systems and mechanical design principles.
• Ability to interpret and convert legacy drawings into modern CAD formats.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 3D models and assemblies in SolidWorks.
• Convert legacy 2D PDF drawings into accurate 3D models.
• Implement and maintain a drawing control system using Windchill.
• Provide design input and support for scarfing machine systems (fluid control, structural components, motion systems).
• Serve as a technical liaison for customers, assisting with design-related inquiries and documentation.
• Install, start up, repair, and support SIP products globally, primarily scarfing machines.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Provide on-site and remote customer support during projects.
