Job summary

ESAB Corporation is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer based in Denton, TX. The role focuses on creating and modifying 3D models in SolidWorks, converting legacy drawings to modern CAD formats, and maintaining a robust drawing control system via Windchill.

You will design scarfing machine components, including valves, piping, frames, and motion systems, and act as a liaison for customers across global installations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and at least one 2D CAD system.
• Experience with Windchill or similar PLM systems.
• Knowledge of industrial machinery design.
• Familiarity with steel industry processes; prior experience in a steel mill preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 3D models and assemblies in SolidWorks.
• Convert legacy 2D PDF drawings into accurate 3D models.
• Implement and maintain a drawing control system using Windchill.
• Provide design input and support for scarfing machine systems (fluid control, structural components, motion and actuation).
• Serve as a technical liaison for customers, assisting with design inquiries and documentation.
• Install, start up, repair, and support SIP products globally, primarily scarfing machines.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform preventive/corrective maintenance.
• Test faulty equipment and resolve deviations from design specs.
• Provide on-site and remote customer support and troubleshooting.
