Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks an experienced M&A Counsel to join its legal team and report to the Chief M&A Counsel. You will advise senior leadership on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, JVs and investments with global transactions across jurisdictions.

You will lead negotiations, draft documentation, manage external costs, and translate contract terms into business risks, partnering with internal clients and external counsel in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Law degree and member of US state bar
• Minimum of 10+ years legal experience
• Substantial M&A transactional experience at a large law firm, including cross-border M&A experience
• In-house experience preferred, particularly with a large multinational publicly-traded company
• Knowledge of antitrust and competition law
• Experience with venture capital is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple, complex M&A transactions across jurisdictions and advise on deal structure and documentation
• Draft and/or review all relevant transaction documents with external counsel
• Manage external legal expenses and provide regular reports to management on deal status
• Think creatively to provide practical risk assessments and drive improvements in processes
