Job summary

You will provide strategic legal guidance to executives, align legal strategies with business objectives, and manage budgets and outside counsel relationships to optimize outcomes and cost efficiency across jurisdictions. The ideal candidate has strong software industry experience, a JD with bar admission, and a track record of proactive risk management in cross-border matters.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in at least one relevant jurisdiction are required.
• 7+ years of progressive legal experience managing significant litigation in-house or at a major law firm.
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Highly ethical with a commitment to compliance.
• Strategic thinker able to anticipate legal risks globally.
• Collaborative and adaptable, able to work with senior executives and cross-functional teams across cultures.

Responsibilities

• Manage a high-volume global portfolio of complex litigation across IP, commercial, employment, and regulatory matters through the full lifecycle.
• Lead internal attorneys, paralegals, cross-border personnel, and outside counsel with effective delegation and budgeting.
• Develop and execute litigation strategies that protect BMC’s interests worldwide.
• Advise on IP enforcement and defense across global markets.
• Represent BMC in legal proceedings, regulatory hearings, and industry forums.
• Oversee eDiscovery, document review, and information governance across matters.
