Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) seeks a strategic Vice President, Litigation & Insurance to lead the Health System’s enterprise litigation, claims, captive insurance, and commercial insurance programs. You will advise the General Counsel and executives on exposure, strategy, and risk mitigation, coordinating across clinical, operational, and financial stakeholders.

The role directs clinical and enterprise-wide litigation efforts, manages major claims and captive governance, and partners with Finance

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school and active MA bar in good standing.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible legal experience in healthcare litigation, insurance, or related functions.
• Experience advising senior executives and governing boards on high-risk matters and litigation strategy.
• Experience with professional liability, captive insurance structures, and commercial insurance programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise litigation strategy across healthcare, professional liability, employment, regulatory and complex disputes.
• Oversee professional liability and claims functions, including medical malpractice and major employment-related claims.
• Partner with Finance on reserve reviews, risk financing, and insurance program strategy.
• Direct outside counsel management, budgets, staffing, and spend.
• Present dashboards and risk insights to the General Counsel, executive team, and boards.
