Job summary

AstraZeneca in Gaithersburg, MD, seeks an accomplished clinical development leader in Immunology to drive early to late-stage cell therapy programs. You will design studies, shape development plans, and ensure medical and scientific integrity across cross-functional teams.

The role requires an MD/MD-PhD with 3–5 years pharma experience leading Phase 2–4 trials, strong biostatistics knowledge, and the ability to interact with regulators and investigators.

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD or MD-PhD) with specialist training or experience in rheumatology and/or clinical immunology.
• 3–5 years in pharma industry, with experience in leading clinical trials to support approval (Phase 2-4).
• Knowledge of biostatistics, global regulatory environment, and pharmacovigilance relevant to the role.
• Experience in leading or reviewing a clinical program to support an indication: design, development plan and Target Product Profile.
• Good presentation skills and effective communication with internal and external collaborators.
• Knowledge and experience to work across projects, with a fast-learning curve when moving into new disease areas.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical and scientific input into cell therapy programs from early to late phase.
• Lead clinical study design concepts and drive decisions within Global Study Team remits.
• Ensure safety, ethics, and regulatory compliance (GCP) across studies and programs.
• Prepare and review study documents (protocols, SAPs, amendments, CRFs, safety and monitoring plans).
