Job summary

Avalara, Inc. is seeking a Senior Director, HR Business Partnering to serve as the primary people strategist for two C-suite executives. You’ll design orgs, lead a global HRBP team, and align talent with business goals using AI and data. This role shapes leadership development and HR operating models across North America, India, EMEA, and beyond.

Remote-friendly with a focus on data-driven talent decisions and strong partnership with Centers of Excellence to deliver measurable business results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or related field.
• 15+ years of HR experience with 6+ years in people management.
• 5+ years as a senior HRBP to engineering, technology, or product leaders.
• Proven track record advising C-suite and SVP leaders.
• Experience designing organizations for technology teams.
• Global HR experience across the U.S. and international markets.
• Fluency with people data and AI in decision making.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a global team of HRBPs across TCO and Strategy & Product.
• Advise C-suite and senior executives on org, talent, and strategy.
• Design an AI-native organization and define work split between people and AI.
• Plan headcount, workforce investment, and location strategy with Finance.
• Set leadership standards, calibrate executive talent, and develop leadership.
• Handle sensitive people moments such as restructurings and acquisitions.
• Partner with Centers of Excellence to tailor enterprise frameworks.
• Strengthen Avalara's culture and drive performance across time zones.
