Job summary

Nakupuna Companies seeks a GHS Lab Technical Advisor to strengthen laboratory systems and networks to detect, report, and respond to health threats worldwide. The role provides technical guidance for bilateral MOUs, program design, and policy development in support of AFGHS.

The position is full-time, based in Washington, DC, with international travel up to 25% and requires a U.S. citizen with a Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred).

Qualifications

• Advanced expertise in global health and multisectoral laboratory capacity-strengthening programs.
• Experience with foreign policy, international development, and laboratory systems.
• Experience providing technical assistance and capacity building to country teams and partners.
• Engagement with governments, partners, faith-based and private sector to adapt US standards.
• Hands-on lab experience with human/zoonotic pathogens and clinical specimens.
• Knowledge of biorisk management and ISO standards.
• Experience in lab management, disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, and emergency preparedness.
• Ability to interpret surveillance data and advise in austere environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, briefing skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and programmatic support for laboratory strengthening and MOU implementation.
• Design and support programs aligning with US global health security priorities.
• Advise on multisectoral components including G2G, faith-based, and private-sector partners.
• Develop metrics, milestones, and program instruments for laboratory strengthening.
• Create technical guidance, tools, and training materials for GHSD staff and partners.
• Monitor performance against metrics and milestones; identify gaps and risks.
• Prepare reports, briefings, analyses, and leadership recommendations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
